CVE-2021-32659 WRITEUP MEDIUM WRITEUP
Matrix-appservice-bridge <2.6.0 - Info Disclosure
Matrix-appservice-bridge is the bridging service for the Matrix communication program's application services. In versions 2.6.0 and earlier, if a bridge has room upgrade handling turned on in the configuration (the `roomUpgradeOpts` key when instantiating a new `Bridge` instance.), any `m.room.tombstone` event it encounters will be used to unbridge the current room and bridge into the target room. However, the target room `m.room.create` event is not checked to verify if the `predecessor` field contains the previous room. This means that any malicious admin of a bridged room can repoint the traffic to a different room without the new room being aware. Versions 2.6.1 and greater are patched. As a workaround, disabling the automatic room upgrade handling can be done by removing the `roomUpgradeOpts` key from the `Bridge` class options.

CVE-2022-3971 WRITEUP MEDIUM WRITEUP
Matrix Irc Bridge < 0.36.0 - SQL Injection
A vulnerability was found in matrix-appservice-irc up to 0.35.1. It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects unknown code of the file src/datastore/postgres/PgDataStore.ts. The manipulation of the argument roomIds leads to sql injection. Upgrading to version 0.36.0 is able to address this issue. The name of the patch is 179313a37f06b298150edba3e2b0e5a73c1415e7. It is recommended to upgrade the affected component. VDB-213550 is the identifier assigned to this vulnerability.

CVE-2023-38690 WRITEUP MEDIUM WRITEUP
matrix-appservice-irc <1.0.1 - Command Injection
matrix-appservice-irc is a Node.js IRC bridge for Matrix. Prior to version 1.0.1, it is possible to craft a command with newlines which would not be properly parsed. This would mean you could pass a string of commands as a channel name, which would then be run by the IRC bridge bot. Versions 1.0.1 and above are patched. There are no robust workarounds to the bug. One may disable dynamic channels in the config to disable the most common execution method but others may exist.

CVE-2023-43656 WRITEUP MEDIUM WRITEUP
matrix-hookshot - Code Injection
matrix-hookshot is a Matrix bot for connecting to external services like GitHub, GitLab, JIRA, and more. Instances that have enabled transformation functions (those that have `generic.allowJsTransformationFunctions` in their config), may be vulnerable to an attack where it is possible to break out of the `vm2` sandbox and as a result Hookshot will be vulnerable to this. This problem is only likely to affect users who have allowed untrusted users to apply their own transformation functions. If you have only enabled a limited set of trusted users, this threat is reduced (though not eliminated). Version 4.5.0 and above of hookshot include a new sandbox library which should better protect users. Users are advised to upgrade. Users unable to upgrade should disable `generic.allowJsTransformationFunctions` in the config.

CVE-2025-23197 WRITEUP MEDIUM WRITEUP
Matrix-hookshot <6.0.1,5.4.1 - DoS
matrix-hookshot is a Matrix bot for connecting to external services like GitHub, GitLab, JIRA, and more. When Hookshot 6 version 6.0.1 or below, or Hookshot 5 version 5.4.1 or below, is configured with GitHub support, it is vulnerable to a Denial of Service (DoS) whereby it can crash on restart due to a missing check. The impact is greater to you untrusted users can add their own GitHub organizations to Hookshot in order to connect their room to a repository. This vulnerability is fixed in 6.0.2 and 5.4.2.
