NortheBridge/luminalshine has Incorrect Permission Assignment for Critical Resource and Creation of Temporary File in Directory with Insecure Permissions

NortheBridge/luminalshine is a Sunshine-compatible game stream host for Moonlight. Prior to version 26.05.0-rc4, a latent gap exists on a default install, the file at `src/platform/windows/misc.cpp` lives at `C:\ProgramData\LuminalShine\config\apps.json` and is created by the `SYSTEM` service. Under Windows' default `C:\ProgramData` inheritance, that gives `BUILTIN\Users` only Read+Execute — not writable — so the canonical EoP doesn't actually trigger on a vanilla install. Version 26.05.0-rc4 co

Local Privilege Escalation in servereye client (sensorhub)

The servereye client (also known as sensorhub, technically ClientAgentContainerService) versions 20.15 and earlier are vulnerable to Local Privilege Escalation. The high-privileged service SE3Recovery (EmergencyRecoveryService.exe), running as SYSTEM, periodically monitors the directory %ProgramData%\ServerEye3\update\ for a trigger file named "update_available". Due to insufficient access restrictions on this directory, a local standard user can create the trigger file and provide a path to a d

osquery: Unprivileged users can temporarily read file carve contents

osquery is a SQL powered operating system instrumentation, monitoring, and analytics framework. Prior to 5.23.1, an unprivileged attacker can read the contents of an osquery file carve until the carve completes and the temporary files are deleted because in-progress carve directories are not created with private permissions. If the carve targets a directory that the attacker controls, arbitrary file reads are possible, such as sensitive local files. This issue is fixed in version 5.23.1.

Pi: Predictable temporary extension install paths allow local privilege escalation on shared Linux hosts

Pi is a minimal terminal coding harness. From 0.74.0 until 0.78.1, Pi versions with temporary npm or git extension package installs used predictable paths under the operating system temporary directory. On Linux-based multi-user systems, a local attacker who can write to the shared temporary directory could prepare the expected package location before another user runs pi with a temporary extension package source. Pi could then load attacker-controlled extension code in the victim user's process

OpenTelemetry.Exporter.OpenTelemetryProtocol: Disk retry default temp path enables local blob injection for OTLP Exporter

OpenTelemetry.Exporter.OpenTelemetryProtocol is the OTLP (OpenTelemetry Protocol) exporter implementation. From 1.8.0 to 1.15.2, the OTLP disk retry feature in OpenTelemetry.Exporter.OpenTelemetryProtocol silently fell back to Path.GetTempPath() when OTEL_DOTNET_EXPERIMENTAL_OTLP_RETRY=disk was set but OTEL_DOTNET_EXPERIMENTAL_OTLP_DISK_RETRY_DIRECTORY_PATH was not configured. The exporter stored and loaded *.blob files under fixed, signal-named subdirectories (traces, metrics, logs) beneath tha

WinRAR 5.61 Denial of Service via Malformed Language File

WinRAR 5.61 contains a denial of service vulnerability that allows local attackers to crash the application by placing a malformed winrar.lng language file in the installation directory. Attackers can trigger the crash by opening an archive and pressing the test button, causing an access violation at memory address 004F1DB8 when the application attempts to read invalid data.

Spring Data Geode Insecure Temporary Directory Usage

Use of insecure directory in Spring Data Geode snapshot import extracts archives into predictable, permissive directories under the system temp location. On shared hosts, a local user with basic privileges can access another user’s extracted snapshot contents, leading to unintended exposure of cache data.

Privilege Escalation in mlflow/mlflow

In mlflow version 2.20.3, the temporary directory used for creating Python virtual environments is assigned insecure world-writable permissions (0o777). This vulnerability allows an attacker with write access to the `/tmp` directory to exploit a race condition and overwrite `.py` files in the virtual environment, leading to arbitrary code execution. The issue is resolved in version 3.4.0.

Insecure handling of file paths allows multiple local attacks

Kea configuration and API directives can be used to overwrite arbitrary files, subject to permissions granted to Kea. Many common configurations run Kea as root, leave the API entry points unsecured by default, and/or place the control sockets in insecure paths. This issue affects Kea versions 2.4.0 through 2.4.1, 2.6.0 through 2.6.2, and 2.7.0 through 2.7.8.

Gradle vulnerable to local privilege escalation through system temporary directory

Gradle is a build automation tool, and its native-platform tool provides Java bindings for native APIs. On Unix-like systems, the system temporary directory can be created with open permissions that allow multiple users to create and delete files within it. This library initialization could be vulnerable to a local privilege escalation from an attacker quickly deleting and recreating files in the system temporary directory.
