## Executive summary Microsoft is releasing this security advisory to provide information about a vulnerability in System.Net.WebSockets. This advisory also provides guidance on what developers can do to update their applications to remove this vulnerability. An unchecked input for loop condition in .NET allows an unauthorized attacker to deny service over a network. ## Announcement Announcement for this issue can be found at https://github.com/dotnet/announcements/issues/428 ## CVSS Detail

Mermaid radar diagrams are vulnerable to DoS

Mermaid is a JavaScript tool that uses Markdown-inspired text to create and modify diagrams and charts. From version 11.6.0 until 11.16.1, Mermaid Radar Diagrams allow arbitrary large values for the ticks parameter, which can cause high CPU usage and freeze the rendering webpage or JavaScript process for long periods of time, potentially until the process is killed from memory exhaustion. This issue is fixed in version 11.16.1.

Cisco IOS Software and IOS XE Software Extensible Messaging Client Protocol Denial of Service Vulnerability

A vulnerability in the Extensible Messaging Client Protocol (XMCP), also referred to as the External Client protocol, of Cisco IOS Software and Cisco IOS XE Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on an affected device. This vulnerability is due to improper handling of malformed XMCP packets. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a malformed XMCP packet to an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the a

Junos OS: MX Series: In a VC scenario a high rate of micro-BFD session flaps will cause an FPC crash

An Unchecked Input for Loop Condition vulnerability in the Packet Forwarding Engine (pfe) of Juniper Networks Junos OS on MX Series allows an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a Denial-of-Service (DoS).Micro-BFD session flaps generate respective up/down events which are queued by PFEMAN for processing. kafka-python prior to 2.3.2 DoS via SCRAM Iteration Count in scram.py

kafka-python prior to 2.3.2 contains a denial-of-service vulnerability in SCRAM authentication handling that allows a malicious or machine-in-the-middle broker to freeze the client event loop by supplying an excessively large iteration count. In scram.py, ScramClient.process_server_first_message() passes the broker-controlled SCRAM iteration count directly to hashlib.pbkdf2_hmac() without validation, blocking producer sends, consumer polls, admin operations, and heartbeats, which can cause consu

Inefficient candidate hostname parsing in crypto/x509

(*x509.Certificate).VerifyHostname previously called matchHostnames in a loop over all DNS Subject Alternative Name (SAN) entries. This caused strings.Split(host, ".") to execute repeatedly on the same input hostname. With a large DNS SAN list, verification costs scaled quadratically based on the number of SAN entries multiplied by the hostname's label count. Because x509.Verify validates hostnames before building the certificate chain, this overhead occurred even for untrusted certificates.

Unbounded resend loop in BIND 9 resolver

An unbounded resend loop vulnerability exists in the BIND 9 resolver state machine during bad-server handling, enabling a remote unauthenticated attacker to cause severe resource exhaustion by sending queries that trigger specific retry conditions. This issue affects BIND 9 versions 9.18.36 through 9.18.48, 9.20.8 through 9.20.22, 9.21.7 through 9.21.21, 9.18.36-S1 through 9.18.48-S1, and 9.20.9-S1 through 9.20.22-S1.

Python-Multipart: Denial of Service via unbounded multipart part headers

Python-Multipart is a streaming multipart parser for Python. Prior to 0.0.27, python-multipart has a denial of service vulnerability in multipart part header parsing. When parsing multipart/form-data, MultipartParser previously had no limit on the number of part headers or the size of an individual part header. An attacker could send a request with either many repeated headers without terminating the header block or a single very large header value, causing excessive CPU work before request reje

protobufjs: Denial of service through unbounded protobuf recursion

protobufjs compiles protobuf definitions into JavaScript (JS) functions. Prior to 7.5.6 and 8.0.2, protobufjs could recurse without a depth limit while decoding nested protobuf data. This affected both skipping unknown group fields and generated decoding of nested message fields. A crafted protobuf binary payload could cause the JavaScript call stack to be exhausted during decoding. This vulnerability is fixed in 7.5.6 and 8.0.2.

Forge has Denial of Service via Infinite Loop in BigInteger.modInverse() with Zero Input

Forge (also called `node-forge`) is a native implementation of Transport Layer Security in JavaScript. Excessive NSEC3 iterations cause high CPU load during insecure delegation validation

If a BIND resolver is performing DNSSEC validation and encounters a maliciously crafted zone, the resolver may consume excessive CPU. Authoritative-only servers are generally unaffected, although there are circumstances where authoritative servers may make recursive queries (see: https://kb.isc.org/docs/why-does-my-authoritative-server-make-recursive-queries).
